Bead model of Klein's all-heptagon network

I took a picture of single tetrahedral unit (12 heptagons) of D56 bead model on the figure depicting schematically an open network consisting only of heptagons, described by Klein in his 1879 paper.

C60 and T120 with 5mm cateye stones

It's been a while since I made T120 and C60 sometime ago. Also, I have given away all other cateye T120 models made by Chern many years ago. Hopefully, I can show more models with this kind of beads in the future.

Torus C120 with Crystal Beads

Last week Qian-Rui and I went to 延平北路 for the properly sized beads that he needed to construct the beaded EMACS in the previous post. I also bought some beads made of artificial quartz and here is the results:

Dodecahedron with crystal beads

In the store next to Mamabear, I found many beaded dodecahedrons, mainly for decoration, made with more expensive crystal beads. I believe that people have known how to make spherical beaded structures in the ancient time. The first person who discovered how to do it has probably been lost in history for a long time.

Cat's eye gemstone T120

Cat's eye gemstones are perfect materials for making high-quality beaded molecules. Although the price for 6mm beads is more expensive that that of plastic beads, it is still within the affordable range. Here are another two T120s made from the 6mm cat's eye gemstones. I guess the raw materials for one T120 cost about US$10 dollars.

T120

This T120 is made by some kind of precious stones (4mm). Chuang made it many months ago. The real model is even more beautiful than this picture due to the shimmering color when light shining on.
