Klein bottle
Three students in my class, Molecular Aesthetics, constructed a bead model of Klein bottle.
My contribution to their work is to tell them that this model can be done with mathematical beading. Especially, I showed them how to systematically construct the interpenetration of a graphene surface and a carbon nanotube, which is essential part of this model. In addition to my part, the TA of this course, Hou-Xun Ho (何厚勳), who developed a systematic strategy to build smooth tori with large rotational number, plays an important role for successful construction of this model with beads.

Bead models of ZSM-5 (MFI) & ZSM-11 (MEL)
I offered a course, Molecular Aesthetics, in the spring semesters of last and this years. Students are required to build bead sculptures as the final term projects. Last year, a group of six students, 黃正浩,黃兆嘉,黃冠霖,黃愉惠,林汶輝,葉錦德, built together a beautiful model of zeolite MEL. The final structure consists of sixteen helical pentasil chains. Two neighbored chains forms a pair of enantiomorphs. Following my suggestions, students adopted one color for left-handed helices, and another for right-handed helices.
A different group of students this year decided to complete a different zeolite, ZSM-5 (MFI), based on the same helical pentasil chains. The spatial arrangement of helical chains is basically the same. The only difference is the alignment of the chains relative to the neighbored chain along z-direction.

Bead model of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)
A group of students in my class, "Molecular Aesthetics", is working on a bead model of coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2). They adopt (8,0)-Goldberg polyhedron for the envelop with 60 spikes distributed on the surface.
I hope they can complete it next week.
